What's on my dresser/Jewelry Organization

Hey folks! So I was cleaning up my dresser (because it tends to get dusty and my jewelry gets messed up time to time) and I decided to show y'all how I store some of my jewelry. I'm not sure if anyone even cares, lol. But I do have a few tips/tricks on how to store your jewelry so that it doesn't become one big tangled mess/ hoard multiple jewelry boxes. So let's jump right in!

top of dresser
What's on my dresser:
A candle to keep my room smelling like fresh laundry
A pretty mug which I use as a pen holder
A cool souvenir candle/sand art from Dubai
A handmade rabbit statue from Bangladesh
A pretty metallic blue vase/candle holder from Marshall's
A few different dishes to hold my jewelry
Star jar- a friend made me this back in JHS and I still have it
Lotions, body sprays and deodorant lol
My handy lint roller!
And of course, an alarm clock. TIP: keep your alarm clock across the room from your bed, that way you are forced to wake up, walk over and turn it off. It really works! So much better than hitting the snooze button and oversleeping!

So here's the twist, the top of my dresser opens up to be a hidden display with a mirror
I keep jewelry that I wear occasionally in here, as well as some hand me downs and gift pieces that I want to be extra careful with
Pretty cool right? This dress is from Bob's furniture but it was purchased about 3 years ago so I am not sure if they still carry this model.
As I mentioned, I love displaying my jewelry on dishes rather than jewelry boxes. Why? Simply because they're prettier to look at! And this way they are right in front of me, making them easier to find as well.

I especially love Turkish dishes. They have the most gorgeous designs and can be used for anything, I just find them too pretty to serve food lol

I get my Turkish dishes from Marshalls or T.J. Maxx and they're usually under $10 for the smaller pieces.

This teal dish (below) is perfect for my everyday/most worn jewelry and accessories. It's the perfect size to fit in my stuff, and is such a cute color. And I believe I got this on sale too!

The dish on its own
Here we have my most worn earrings, necklaces, rings and my watch (novelty)
The next dish is something that captured my eyes right away!!! How gorgeous is this eggplant purple dish with gold artwork? I die.
Details
At first I left the bowl empty because its so beautiful on its own. But then I found it to be a good home for all my chunky necklaces. It displays them evenly, and you can still admire the mesmerizing artwork
My chunky necklaces

I'm sure you are all familiar with the crystal candy jar. I mean every grandma had this in their house, right?
A couple years ago my mom wanted to get rid of this old jar, but I told her I'll keep it because it was in good condition and I was sure I could find good use for it. I decided to keep it as an extra jewelry holder/storage for safety pins, extra earring pushes and mismatched earrings lol

Last but not least I wanted to share this awesome tip, a solution I came up with all on my own!
This is for my peeps that deal with the struggle of getting all their necklaces in a knot. All you're going to need for this is a bracelet that has an opening to latch and detach like this one
closed
open

You're going to take all your necklaces (closed) and loop them around the bracelet
this is what your necklace organizer should look like once you close the bracelet

To get the necklace of your choice, follow the diagram below and you should have no problem!
1. Select the pendant/necklace you want to wear
2. Find the closure
3. open the closure
4. simply pull the pendant out and you should be knot free!

I hope you found this helpful and want to try out some of my organization styles! This isn't all of my jewelry, but its the jewelry that I wear the most and like to have close to me. I usually stick to this display, but I do change it up time to time. I love looking at other people's jewelry displays and it inspires me to switch up my style. Happy reading my friends! Hope to have more posts up for y'all soon. xoxo

Burning out 7/15/15

I've been having a pretty shitty week and feeling super uninspired. I want to produce content and keep blogging but I feel so burnt out and sad. It's pretty pathetic because this blog isn't even 6 months old. Its just life.

I just logged into my blogger to check the views and it made me happy to see that they went up even though I haven't posted in a while.

To whoever visits my page: thank you. I know that its scattered with beauty, fashion, rants and randomness, but this is my free write space. This is where I come to share my thoughts and express myself, and I hope someone who checks out my page can enjoy or relate to the stuff I write about.

Ive been really down and out because of my unemployment. It really has nothing to do with money. I'm fortunate enough to have amazing parents that foster me, and I don't have excessive needs so I don't want a job just for the money, but rather the quality of life that I envision for myself. I want to be able to treat my family to things that they wont do for themselves. I want to plan for a somewhat secure future. I want to travel and experience more. I want to have something to show for. I hate feeling like I'm not good enough for the career path I chose.

Its so hard not to feel like I made the wrong choice. But I don't want to be negative. I really hope that I can get a job that will kick start my career soon. I'm burning out and I need to keep busy...

But I can say that every time I see my blog getting more views, it truly warms my heart and lifts my spirit. It motivates me to post more and do what I love. So thank you, whoever is reading this. Y'all motivate me

xoxo

Feeling Lost...7/5/15

This is not like my other posts, but it's necessary for me to write this. As much as I try to escape the hardship of my everyday life, it seems like I cant get over this fucking bump in the road.

I'm so tired.

I'm tired of living in a house of negativity. I'm tired of living under so many rules and regulations. Why have children if you just want to dictate their lives? We are not something to be owned, we are human beings with feelings and desires of our own. I really hate brown culture. It has ruined my life.

I'm 23 years old living at home with my parents. They take care of me financially since I'm currently unemployed. I appreciate their support but why do they feel like they own me? From 17 years old til early this year Ive lived off my own earnings. I ate most of my meals outside, bought my own clothes/necessities and even paid rent. For the past year I still managed to pay for myself up until now. I've been unemployed for 6 months and recently down to my last few dollars.

Ive been on the hunt to start my career as a journalist but its not easy. I've applied to so many places that now I can't even remember where I'm applying. Ive been trying, but luck isn't on my side. I feel like my parents want to get me married off to "fulfill their duties" but they need to wake up and realize its 2015. They cant dictate my life any longer. Just because I live with them doesn't mean they own me. I need help. I need to be able to financially support myself so I can move out and live on my terms.

Its not fair.

Its not fair that because of someone else's mistakes, that I have to deal with my parent's depression and disappointment and lashing out. Ive never done anything that put them to shame or hurt them, yet I have to hear their hurtful words all the time. Why? Because I stand up for myself? Because I cant stand injustice done to me? Because I am a person who defends myself from inaccurate accusations?

I don't know what to do anymore. This is the lowest point in my life by far. Yes Ive got the support of less than a handful of people I love and that love me, but is that enough? I sure hope so because I just cant take this torture anymore.

Verbal abuse is real...and it can kill. I cant let it kill me so I have to fight. I need everything in my being to give me strength to move forth from this. God be with me.

June Favorites!

It's July!!!! I cant take it...I cant take how fast the months are going. Seriously, where did June go? Since this month truly zoomed by, not a lot changed in my beauty/skincare routine. This has to be my shortest favorites yet, and without further delay let's chat about these products!

OLAY Fresh Effects Swirled Mattifier
Can we have a moment of silence out of respect?

THIS STUFF IS AMAZING! So I first tried this product out when I received a sample in the March issue of seventeen magazine. I held on to the sample and tried it out last month and instantly fell in love so I went out and purchased the full size product. The claims on the packaging is that this is suppose to reduce redness and the appearance of pores. I cant say much about redness because I don't have a lot of redness. But I do have an issue with my pores and this does such a great job at blurring them out. I have such an oily t-zone which is a huge issue for me during the summer and this really does mattify my face. It makes for a great base for makeup, or if you want to wear it on its own that is fine as well. And it smells like mints & citrus, so refreshing!

Go pick one up...now! Only $9.99 at Target

NYC BB Radiance Perfecting Powder in "Warm Beige"
I've heard of BB creams before, but never BB powders. I was so intrigued when I saw images of this product floating around on the Internet that I had to go try it out. There are only 2 color options for this powder; Natural beige and Warm beige. I wanted natural beige because it seemed to match my skin color perfectly, but unfortunately the CVS that I went to only had one natural beige that was opened and messed around with. So since I have no patience, I bought the warm beige thinking I could wear it after I catch a slight tan this summer. To my surprise, there wasn't a huge difference once I applied it. I think this is one of those products that's suppose to adjust to the tone of your face and make it look all one color. I really love the texture of this powder, its velvety smooth and not flaky like other powders. It wears really well on the skin and makes my face feel so soft. I really love this product and I hope this isn't a limited edition item.

Check out your local CVS or any other store that sells NYC cosmetics. Walmart sells it for less that $4! Get your hands on these quick before they disappear.

Wet n Wild Max Volume Plus mascara

Considering that this is my first ever mascara from Wet n Wild, I am blown away. I do believe this is their latest mascara, and it probably is the best. From the wand to the formula, my lashes have been blessed. This mascara is also infused with Pathenol, which is suppose to help condition and strengthen the lashes. Sounds like a win win to me!

A closer look at the wand
The wand is so sleek and the bristles get in between every single lash and ensure that each and every one of the lashes are coated. The shape of the want also helps application easy since it narrows down the end, making it easy to coat the lashes by the inner corner of the eye. Works great for top and bottom lashes. Ive bee obsessed with this mascara and haven't even touched my other ones!

Best $5 you'll ever spend on mascara, get yours from Walgreens and take advantage of the BOGO 50% on all Wet n Wild cosmetics sale

NYX Tinted Brow Mascara in "Black"
I had to start filling in my eyebrows this month because when I went to get them cleaned up at the threading salon, I left with 1/3 of  my eyebrows. I don't want to discuss that tragedy because I will just get angry all over again lol

This "tinted brow mascara" is basically a brow gel. I really like it because it has a tint that covers any light eyebrow hairs. I like to sweep this on top of my brows once I fill them in with a pencil, or if I'm feeling lazy I just use this on its own and it looks fine. I like that it keeps my brows in place all day and doesn't have a harsh color.

Get yours at Ulta and grab one quick while they still have their 40% all NYX cosmetics!

E.L.F Mineral Blush in "Wanderlust"
Look familiar? Haha yes this is the blush I featured in my mini E.L.F. haul and I apologize for using the same pic from that post. I forgot to take a pic of this separately!!

So of course I have been in love with this blush from the first time I swatched it til now and probably all summer. Its so pigmented, and you only really need to pick up a little bit product. It gives such a beautiful flush to the cheek, it looks like your crush has been flirting with you all day long. Lol I'm such a cheesehead.

Check out E.L.F. to see the other shades they have.

CoverGirl Outlast All Day Lip Color in "Wine to Five"

#538 Wine to Five
Shoutout to IG personality @bae.doe for sharing her beautiful matte lips combo. She uses this CoverGirl lipcolor, which is basically like a liquid lipstick. It comes with a moisturizing balm that I tossed to the side because I wanted the matte look that @bae.doe gets and she said not to use the balm on top. This product could be a bit dry, so I suggest using a balm BEFORE you apply this, just wipe off the excess moisture and apply this muted pink gorgeousness. I really love how this lip color can be manipulated depending on what lip pencil you pair it with.

Here's a pic of me wearing the lip color on its own without any lip liner
I love how it suits every makeup look and is also just fine for everyday wear. Ive been wearing it non stop.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So that concludes my June favorites. I stuck around with my previous favorites for most of this month too, that's why this favorites wasn't as lengthy. but not to worry, Ive purchased some new goodies which I am so excited to try and I also have a skincare samples review coming soon. As always, I hope this was helpful to you lovelies and happy reading! xoxo
