I've made it a point to eliminate harsh chemicals from my haircare and skincare routine in general. But after dying my hair to the point of no return, the efforts to nurture my dried out strands are REAL. The first step I took was seeking out sulfate-free formulas. From Lush shampoo bars to OGX, I've tried em all.
I dived into the world of "co-washing" and cleansing conditioners before, but I never really felt like my hair was getting clean. I fell in love with the Herbal Essences Color Me Happy cleansing conditioner, but of course, it got discontinued. Why does Herbal Essences always discontinue my favorite products?!
I was either in a TJ Maxx or Marshalls when I stumbled upon the Renpure hairline. I'd seen this brand before in different drugstores, but never really thought about giving it a shot. One of my favorite YouTubers, Bramty Juliette briefly spoke about some Renpure shampoos and conditioners that she tried out and swore by (not sponsored), so I decided to try it out!
I got the cleansing conditoner instead of a traditional set of shampoo and conditioner because I wanted something I can use on days that I just wanted to clean my scalp gently and not style my hair. A cleansing conditioner seemed like the way to go because it would ensure that my hair is still moisturized and reduce the amount of friction after washing.
I love this product! It does such a great job of actually making my hair feel clean. Too often, I've found that sulfate-free products don't cleanse my scalp as well as regular shampoos that lather up. But this cleansing conditioner did exactly that- cleansed my hair!
The directions say to pump the product 10-12 times, which can seem intimidating, but I'd say each person can customize how much product they need. The consistency is similar to a deep conditioner (thicker than a regular conditioner). I only need 8 pumps, which I work into my roots and squeeze through my ends. I make sure to massage my scalp for 1-2 minutes, which is so relaxing to do with a conditioner since it makes the hair extra soft and slippery. I rinse that out and squeeze 2 more pumps, which I work into the midshaft and ends of my hair for the duration of my shower. As for the scent, there is a faint coconut smell which is not overpowering at all!
This product leaves my hair feeling squeaky clean and super soft. It's almost as if its formulated to act as a grease magnet! The only con I have is that it is so powerful in cleansing the hair, that sometimes my ends do feel a bit dry after using it. But no worries because that's what leave in conditioners were made for, right?
