Collective Summer Faves! (July+August 2015)

Hey my lovelies! I know I always do monthly faves but by the end of July I realized that I didn't accumulate enough products to do a full post on. I guess you can say that I was enjoying some of the products from previous months. So I decided to wait til August was over so I could combine both months and come up with a collective favorites post. Needless to say I gathered a good amount of new and old faves to share with y'all, so keep reading to get the 411!

Skincare

Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque- This mask is a holy grail since I hit puberty lol. The cooling effect it has is so soothing after a hot summer day. If I feel like my face is extremely greasy or clogged, I like to treat myself to an instant facial with this minty goodness. Its a must!

Radical Skincare Youth Infusion Serum- If you follow me on Instagram then you would've seen that a couple of months ago my friend/sister in law who worked at Space NK gave me a bag of skincare goodies. Amongst those products was this face serum. Though I'd probably never purchase this serum because its ridiculously expensive, I'm so glad I got to try it. I like to apply this lightweight serum after I have washed and toned my face and before I apply a moisturizer. I love the citrus scent and cooling effect it has, and its not greasy it all! If you can get your hand on a sample or afford the real deal, definitely add this serum into your skincare routine.

E.L.F. Makeup Mist & Set Spray- I recently purchased this product and I love it! But instead of using it to set my makeup (not necessary for me since I don't wear much besides BB cream and eyeliner) I use it when I'm outside and feeling dehydrated. NO, I do not drink it lol but when I feel extremely hot and sweat profusely, I whip out this spray and spritz it 2-3 times on my face and I'm instantly cooled off. It has Aloe, Green Tea, Cucumber and Vitamins A, C & E which is all GREAT for your skin. I know I'll be using this through the rest of the year because it refreshes my complexion when I feel like I look a bit dull.

Simple Oil Balancing Wipes- As you can tell from the picture, I totally used up these babies lol. I first tried out these wipes when I got a sample pack (7 count) in the mail. I really enjoyed how the wipes were moist and not dried out. They do a good job at removing the first layer of makeup off your skin, but I always like to double cleanse and use a face wash afterwards. I went ahead and purchased a full pack (25 count) of the oil balancing wipes. To be honest, there's nothing special about these. They work the same as the original wipes. But they didn't irritate my skin so I found it to be quite handy this summer

Makeup

Garnier All day Shine Control BB Cream- You guys...I found the perfect BB cream for myself. I hate foundation and I tried it out for the first time this summer and once again validated how much I hate how it makes me look/feel. I opt out for BB creams because they're lighter(weight wise) and some claim to help the skin. When I saw this BB cream which claimed to control shine and had SPF 20, I had to have it! I'm so happy to finally have a cream the evens out my skin tone without making my pores feel clogged/being cakey. I only use a dime size of product and apply it to my undereyes, on and around my nose, and around my mouth. I spread it out to my cheeks evenly either using my fingertips or the Real Techniques Buffing Brush(right of pic) which is part of the Real Techniques Core Collection Set. This brush makes the application so even and smooth, it really looks flawless. And of course the soft bristles make the applicatiton enjoyable as well hehe

Lips

From L to R listed below

Both lip pencil on the left side are Kiko Precision Lip Pencils in shade 303 "Indian Red" and 305 "Red Earth". I would describe 303 as a brown nude with slightly pink undertones. Shade 305 is more of a red and brown combo. Both lip pencils were gifted by my sweet cousin, and I must thank her once more because I really love these colors and its proves how well she knows my taste haha.

I mentioned the Nyx slim lip pencil, Jordana Matte lipstick and Gerard Cosmetics lipstick in my your lips but better post so head over to that to see why I love these shades and where to get them!

Accessories

I got this cute little pencil case from Rite Aid from the dollar isle. Since I'm not in school/work, I dont need a pencil case but I fell in love with the print and so I was like, I'm using this as a mini makeup bag! For $1, why the F not??!

I like to carry smaller handbags/backpacks in the summer because helps me minimize the amount of stuff I carry and this pencil case has helped me narrow down my absolute necessities. I hope this inspires you to utilize your cute pencil cases for makeup related purposes. Saves a little $$ while being smart!

fits in my necessities perfectly
Last but not least I wanted to give a shout out to my sunnies. These adorable round sunglasses from Forever 21 have a really unique look to them but go with everything. I couldn't find the exact glasses on the site but they have a huge selection of round sunnies if you're digging that Jackie O vibe, click here to check em out.

I honestly don't care to pay a lot for sunglasses because they always break or get lost. I liked these glasses because they had a subtle floral design on the temples. If someone sat close to me they'd notice the design and tell me how cute the floral is, and who doesn't love compliments?

Once again, another month(s) and another faves. I love testing out new products but if find stuff that I really love and use, I become a creature of habit and stick to those and seldom try out new stuff. Plus, why waste money buying stuff that's hyped up by others if you already have products you love? I think I'll elaborate on that subject in a future post.

This has been one of the least productive summers I've ever had. I didn't really do anything fun and I had a cloud of negativity floating over my head for the most part. This year in general has been a tough one but I've been trying to be more positive recently because I don't want to drown in a self pity pool. Hope my lovely readers had a better summer than I did lol and if not, its OK because we can look forward to something to come. I love the Fall so I am excited to start layering up, Fall fashion and a new beginning. As always, happy reading my friends. xoxo

#tbt: A Pinch Of Paris (Summer 2014)

Hey lovelies! So I thought about sharing some #tbt pictures of my trip to Paris from last summer. Background: After I graduated college, my mom really wanted to go to the UK to see her sisters. Since we have been to the UK before, I wanted a new experience so I convinced my dad to let us go to France as part of the trip. Claiming it as my graduation gift, he booked us flights and hotel reservations for 3 days in the beautiful city that is Paris.

I cannot express how amazing this city is. When I was younger, I always wondered what the big deal was when it came to Paris. How come people swooned at the Eiffel Tower? Whats so special about this place? But I decided to find out what the buzz was, and I have to say- I fell in love at first sight.

There is such a serenity in the streets of Paris. Yeah, there are thousands of tourists and locals crowding the streets but yet there is a calm in the air. My second day in Paris, which was exactly a year ago from today was the longest day. We spent 14 hours walking all around the city, taking the metro transit and also a cycle taxi ride that you'll see below! Despite the endless walking, language barrier and wardrobe malfunction (shown below) I have to say that this old city is worth coming to. It is indeed very romantic and magical. I look forward to coming here with my future husband one day. I will always remember this trip as one of the bests, and hopefully I will be able to visit Paris again, for a much longer time. My mother and I also consider moving here someday! (we're that much infatuated with the city!)

At the time, I took so many pictures but only posted a handful to my personal Instagram. This is the perfect opportunity for me to post the pictures of my trip. WARNING: There are an excessive amount of pictures of the Eiffel Tower, but do you blame me?? She's a beauty.

My Favorite "Your lips, BUT BETTER!" Lip Products

In the past 2 years, I switched over from wearing bright red lipsticks/fun coral colors to now wearing muted, natural pinks. I just love how it looks so natural but adds color to my face. I don't know if its because I'm getting older and going for a more sophisticated look, or because of the whole Kylie Jenner lip mania that's taken over the makeup industry, but mauve/rose toned pinks have been my go to lip color and I am addicted.

I find myself constantly buying lip products in this color family. Some are more brown or purple based, so I excluded them from this post because I want to show the most natural pink colors.
